The Saint-Michel district is both popular and trendy, quiet and noisy, traditional and modern. An emblematic and cosmopolitan part of Bordeaux, we love its imposing basilica, its large flea market, its thrift shops, its bars, its special atmosphere, but above all its many culinary addresses! Bordeaux Secret has put together a top 5 list of our favorite food addresses in the Saint-Mich’ district.
1. La Gigi

Located in the heart of the Saint-Michel district, this restaurant combines street-food and bistronomic dishes. Reflecting the neighborhood’s inhabitants, the menu features dishes from around the world made with local produce. We love the wild prawns, the camembert roasted with black truffles and the succulent Zaalouk brisket. Every Sunday, La Gigi also offers a musical brunch with a DJ. Avocado burger, Eggs Benedict or Croq’truffe, all served with a delicious mimosa– we love it! As for the drinks menu, you’ll be able to succumb to one of the many tasty cocktails! Special mention for the Basil Smash.

2. La Cour de Nana

La Cour de Nana takes you all the way to Syria, with its delicious homemade cuisine! We love its colorful world, its central fountain and its many branches of jasmine. Renowned for its daily brunch, this restaurant also serves breakfast, lunch and snacks. The dishes are concocted by Syrian refugee women. Through their cooking, they aim to deconstruct clichĂ©s and help you discover the cultural richness of Syria. We recommend the aperitif board with its four pots of mezzĂ©s and fresh pita bread, the man’oushĂ©, a kind of Syrian-style pizza, or the moujadara (rice with lentils and caramelized onions).
