The Bordeaux metropolitan area is gearing up to offer its residents a fast, environmentally-friendly and practical new means of transport: the H express bus line. From the end of 2025, this ambitious project will revolutionize the way Bordeaux residents get around the region. But before you can climb aboard this modern bus, you’ll need to make a few adjustments. Rest assured, it’s worth it!
At last, a line to relieve traffic congestion and make journeys easier
Line H will be a major asset for mobility throughout the Bordeaux metropolitan area. With a 21-kilometer loop and 49 stops, it will link the two banks of the Garonne, crossing Bordeaux, Floirac, Cenon and Bègles. This new route will relieve traffic congestion on traditional routes, offering Bordeaux residents a fast, reliable alternative for crossing the city and its neighboring towns.
But for this project to come to fruition, development work is essential. That’s why work is starting in March on the circular boulevards and rue Lucien Faure to create new platforms and lanes reserved for express buses. The aim is to improve traffic flow while guaranteeing optimal bus circulation.
Some disruption ahead, but for a good cause!
We know that no worksite is ever without disruption, but don’t worry: the Métropole de Bordeaux is doing its utmost to limit inconvenience. At Faure-Brunet station, opposite the UGC Ciné-Cité des Bassins à flot, traffic will be reduced to a single lane, so you’ll have to take a detour. Further improvements will take place on boulevard Alfred-Daney from September and at Latule from June. The aim is to ensure that the lanes reserved for express buses are efficient, while minimizing disruption for local residents and users.
Line H: a project for sustainable mobility
Over and above the improvements, the introduction of the H express bus line is part of a wider objective to modernize public transport in Bordeaux and its metropolitan area. The aim of this project is to encourage more environmentally-friendly and convenient travel. By offering a fast, fluid alternative, line H will help reduce traffic congestion and encourage Bordeaux residents to adopt more sustainable modes of transport (no more morning traffic jams)!
Patience, work is already underway, and line H is just around the corner!
