Francisco de Goya, exiled for political reasons, spent the last four years of his life in Bordeaux. The exhibition dedicated to him reveals a fascinating overview of his work, ahead of the major retrospective planned for the anniversary of his death in 2028. 6. Visit the smallest village in France
Perched on a rocky outcrop, the village of Castelmoron d’Albret (you’ve got to admit, it’s got a nice ring to it!) is one of Gironde’s medieval treasures. Listed as a Monument Historique since 1973, this charming site lies just 60 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux, in the Entre-deux-Mers region. It’s the perfect place for a peaceful weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city (although Bordeaux remains a rather quiet town).
7. See the Indochine concert at the Arkéa Arena
The Arkéa Arena, Bordeaux’s legendary venue, plays host to numerous artists throughout the year. And good news: from March 4 to 8, the band Indochine will be on stage! “Trois nuits par semaine”, “J’ai demandé à la lune”, “Et soudain surgit face au vent, le vrai héros de tous les temps”… Do you know them? Morning coffee is sacred. That’s why Bordeaux Secret explored the city to list the best coffee shops in the metropolis and, believe us, it awakened our taste buds! If gentrification has one upside, it’s the blossoming of cozy places serving coffees accompanied by magnificent touches of latte art!
