For some of us (most of us, in fact), our faces light up when we see or cuddle cute little balls of fur commonly known as animals. And as if this joyful behavior weren’t proof enough, various studies have been carried out to understand this reaction, and they have indeed shown the link between happiness and the presence of an animal. Indeed, our interactions with them play a crucial role in well-being, reducing stress and loneliness – because just like humans, animals are social beings.
Simple gestures such as petting or playing with an animal can have soothing effects on our mental health, as they create a beneficial form of relaxation. Animals are therefore allies for our emotional balance! But of course, this interaction must always be respectful of our four-legged friends. Since we at Bordeaux Secret love animals, we set out to find places in Bordeaux where we could enjoy their company in a healthy environment!
Usagi coffee, France’s first rabbit café
What if we told you that France’s first rabbit café had opened in Bordeaux? Usagi Coffeeopened in February 2025, is a tea room where customers can enjoy the presence of rabbits, available for adoption via the association La Maison de Locky. More than a café, this venue aims to raise visitors’ awareness of the importance of adopting rabbits, which are often mistreated or abandoned, rather than buying them.
At Usagi Coffee, you can see rabbits roaming in semi-liberty in a 25 m² enclosure. The rabbits are carefully selected for their temperament and receive regular veterinary care. Although these little creatures are delicious to eat, the establishment imposes strict rules on contact with the animals to guarantee their well-being. In addition to the pleasant company, you’ll be charmed by the calm and friendly atmosphere! If you’re thinking of adopting, this could be the place to meet your next companion!
📍6 rue Achard, Bordeaux
⏱️ Open Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 6:30pm and from 10am to 7pm Friday to Sunday.
Le comptoir des chats, the café where cats invite you
In this “cat bar”, the principle is clear: here you are in their home. They don’t make the coffee, but they do lay down the law! Whether it’s Mina, Miss Tigrise, Mignon or Molly, the 8 cats who inhabit this café (adopted from shelters or passionate breeders) will always be happy to receive consensual petting. Since 2016, Le Comptoir des Chats de Bordeaux has been offering a unique experience combining coffee and the presence of cats who roam freely in the space.
Here, feline “chamateurs” or “chamoureux” can enjoy drinks such as an exceptional hot chocolate (prepared with three types of chocolate and organic milk) accompanied by homemade pastries (miaoum). Aiming to put the well-being of animals and customers first, the place invites relaxation, conviviality and tenderness.

NUGGET, the doggy concept store
No, Nugget is not a competitor to KFC, but a concept store dedicated to trendy accessories for dogs and cats! Here, the concept is a little different: the animals aren’t resident, but you can enjoy the company of those who come with their visiting masters (or simply bring your own pet).
Located in the heart of Bordeaux, this unique place combines shopping, café and pet services, offering a selection of accessories, toys, care as well as a range of quality food! Customers can also take advantage of a grooming and dogwash area. In the concept store’s café, you can enjoy drinks while sharing a special moment with your pet (with treats for him/her, but shhh, it’s a surprise) and meet other four-legged friends. The coffeeshop service is also available as a takeaway to accompany your walks (your pets need to stretch their legs).
📍43 Rue des Bahutiers, Bordeaux
⏱️Ouvert Monday, 1pm to 6pm and Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30am to 7pm
Puppy yoga Bordeaux, the perfect combination of relaxation and cuteness
At Puppy Yoga Bordeaux, well-being, harmony and cuteness meet. The concept is simple: combine the benefits of yoga with the joyful energy of puppies. Each class is a unique experience offering you an incredibly rejuvenating moment – designed to relax your mind. While the presence of these furballs is of great benefit to our customers, it’s also good for the puppies, as these encounters help them to socialize and relax. But even so, to promote their well-being, the number of lessons is limited so that they can enjoy moments of rest and play.
Group classes are suitable for beginners and advanced learners alike, so don’t panic if you’re not a great master of this discipline. Classes are divided into three parts. The first part is dedicated to yoga, the second to puppies and the last to a mix of the two! So, why not make a reservation?
