Every year, Place des Quinconces swaps its usual calm for a joyful buzz: the Foire aux Plaisirs is back! Amidst the scent of cotton candy, twinkling lights, and cries mixed with thrills and laughter, Bordeaux welcomes back one of its most eagerly awaited events. People come here as much for the adrenaline rush of the big rides as for family fun. It’s time to reconnect with your inner child for an evening or an afternoon.
A historic and monumental Bordeaux fair
Since 1854, the fair has taken over the Place des Quinconces, transforming it into a veritable playground. However, the origins of the Foire aux Plaisirs date back to 1431. Established by the King of England, it was held on the quays between the Place de la Bourse and the Place de la Monnaie before its permanent relocation. At the time, there were already a few rides, as well as magicians, animal trainers, and flatulent performers.
Today, fairground operators set up their many attractions there twice a year. It’s a recipe for success, as each edition is estimated to attract more than 800,000 visitors. This scale makes it one of the largest fairs in France, located in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The 2026 Foire aux Plaisirs
This year, the event will be held from February 27 to March 22. A monumental and euphoric event not to be missed at the usual Place des Quinconces.
The fair delivers on its promises with no fewer than 80 rides and as many stands spread over 60,000 square meters. Slides, flying chairs, roller coasters, ghost trains, ice palaces, Ferris wheels, and catapults: the diversity of attractions is designed to delight young and old alike.
A concentration of thrills
In the adrenaline category, thrill seekers will find:
- The Mega King Tower: an 80-meter-high free-fall tower offering breathtaking views of Bordeaux before a dizzying plunge. It is the highest mobile ride in Europe!
- The Bomber Maxxx: a giant arm that rises over 60 meters and spins at high speed.
- New additions: the Coco Bongo (a “surf”-style ride) and the exceptional return ofthe Inversion 360!
Attractions for the whole family
Families and children will also find plenty to keep them entertained. With flying chairs, a funhouse, and a ghost train, the hardest part will be choosing from among the twenty or so family attractions.
Younger children are not left out, with trampolines, fun and entertaining courses, water bubbles, and magical rides. Not to mention the traditional shooting galleries, duck fishing, and lotteries. Finally, the food stands (cotton candy, churros, candy apples) will allow you to prolong the fun.
Charity evening and reduced rates

To mark the opening on Friday, February 27, a charity evening will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to benefit theUBB endowment fund. A ride pass will give you unlimited access to the attractions: the perfect opportunity to have fun while showing your solidarity.
La Foire aux Plaisirs is also offering several promotional days:
- Wednesday, March 4: “Buy one ticket, get one free” promotion.
- Sunday, March 22: Closing day with discounts ranging from 30% to 50% on rides.
A great way to have fun without breaking the bank!
