We’re in the home stretch for Christmas feasting! Once the race for presents is over, there’s often the last (and by no means least) step left: Christmas Eve shopping. Although December 24 is not a public holiday, most shops and supermarkets adapt their opening hours and close early to allow everyone to get to their tables. Whether you’re braving the crowds in search of Bassin oysters, or running out for that last block of foie gras, it’s best to plan ahead. Here’s our guide to the opening hours of businesses in Bordeaux this Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
Carrefour
Carrefour Market stores will close early between 6pm and 7:45pm , while mostExpress and City stores will be open at their usual times. However, some stores may introduce an early closing time. Please check your store’s opening times on the Carrefour website.
Auchan and E.Leclerc
The opening hours of Auchan hypermarkets and supermarkets will also be reduced on Christmas Eve. Bordeaux-Lac and Bordeaux Mériadeck will close at 6pm and 7pm respectively, while most supermarkets will close between 6pm and 7pm, consult the Auchan website.
As for E.Leclerc hypermarkets, the Chartons center will close at 7:30pm, the Bègles center at 6:30pm and Pessac at 6pm. The E.Leclerc Express Bruges store will close at 6pm.
Intermarché Express and Super
Intermarché opening times on December 24 vary from store to store. Most Intermarché Express stores will close early between 5pm and 7pm, while others will maintain their usual opening hours. We therefore recommend that you check your store’s opening times on the Intermarché website. The Parempuyre and Cauderan supermarkets are open until 8pm.
Aldi and Lidl
Aldi and Lidl will also be keeping shorter opening hours on December 24. Although opening times vary from store to store during the rest of the year, all Aldi stores will close at 6pm, compared with 5pm for Lidl stores.
Grand Frais and Picard
Grand Frais supermarkets will also close early at 6pm (instead of 8pm), as will frozen food giant Picard, which will close a little earlier on December 24, at 7pm instead of the usual 7:30pm.
Casino Shop
With an extensive network of Spar, Vival and Casinominimarkets , the stores of these banners will keep unchanged opening hours on December 24, closing between 8pm and 10pm. The Casino Shop in Pessac (Bd du Haut Livrac) will be the exception, closing at 6.30pm.
