The announcement arrives like a gentle breeze: the Montgolfiades du Saint-Émilionnais are making their grand return in September 2026. After several years away, these immense hot-air giants are set to soar once again over the famous medieval town and its vineyards. A magical event blending enchantment, nature, and heritage, designed to delight the whole family.

From September 11 to 13, 2026, the wind will carry us straight to Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, just 3 km from Saint-Émilion. The village is getting ready to host an exciting gathering, eagerly anticipated since its last edition in 2021. A one-of-a-kind event in the Gironde region, the Montgolfiades du Saint-Émilionnais offer a true journey into the extraordinary.
An opportunity to watch some fifteen hot-air balloons rise majestically above a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A top-notch program for the whole family
To keep the magic alive on the ground, the event offers a range of activities and hands-on workshops:
- Creative workshops: Head to Parc Guadet to make mini balloons with your family. Just outside Château Soutard, the Arcs-en-Ciel 81 association will host a kite-making and introductory workshop for children.
- Aerial activities: model aircraft demonstrations, tethered flights, and ground inflation sessions featuring mini hot-air balloons will punctuate the weekend.
- A gourmet break: Stalls run by local artisans and food trucks will be set up on site to satisfy both small and big appetites.
A much-anticipated event following a series of cancellations
After 10 successful years, the Montgolfiades de Saint-Émilion went through a challenging period. Their post-COVID return in 2021 was, unfortunately, short-lived. The 2022 and 2023 editions were canceled at the last minute due to unfavorable weather conditions. This was followed by organizational difficulties, particularly due to a lack of volunteers, resulting in two consecutive years without the event.
This 2026 edition thus marks a true renaissance. To prepare for any weather-related contingencies, the organizers have even scheduled a backup weekend, from October 16 to 18.
