Fall is settling in Bordeaux, the leaves are turning reddish-brown, and All Saints’ Day is approaching. Why not take advantage of the season to travel to Mexico without leaving the capital of the Gironde? Head to Darwin, where Día de los Muertos promises a colorful day filled with Mexican traditions, artistic creations, and Latin American cuisine.
A Mexican tradition blending remembrance and celebration

Bright colors, smiling skulls, and flowers… Día de los Muertos is deeply rooted in Mexican culture, which has kept this tradition alive throughout the ages and across the globe. As Mexico’s most important festival, it brings families together to honor departed loved ones and keep their memory alive. Remembrance blends with the joy of being together, making it a special moment for everyone who takes part.
In Bordeaux, the event takes place at Darwin Éco-Système in collaboration with the Latino Mex Bordeaux association. It’s a vibrant gathering to discover Mexican customs and share a festive moment celebrating Latin American culture.
A Deep Dive into Mexican Folklore

On November 6 and 7, mingle with the Catrinas, share a slice of pan de muerto, and let yourself be carried away by the music of the Day of the Dead. Visit the Grand Altar de Muertos, a traditional altar decorated with flowers and symbols that pays tribute to the deceased. And above all, enjoy a program that promises a wonderful immersion in Mexican folklore.
Art lovers can explore the exhibition “¡Vivan los Muertos!”, which offers different perspectives on the connections between life, death, and memory. Transform yourselves into Catrinas and Catrines with makeup sessions, or take part in a family piñata-making workshop.
The festival will also showcase local craftsmanship and culinary traditions. Latin American artisans will present their creations, while the food offerings will let visitors sample the flavors of Latin America. The whole event will be enlivened by music, social gatherings, and a few surprises.
