Bordeaux is packed with pizzerias, but how do you choose? Today, Bordeaux Secret gives you five addresses that will make everyone agree. Whether you’re a thin, crunchy team or a thick, chewy team, we’ve got the pizzerias for you. Tasty, savoury pizzas, fresh quality products… You don’t have to travel to Italy to find the pizza of your dreams!
Masaniello
If you haven’t yet tried Masaniello‘ s pizzas, now’s the time! Located in the heart of Bordeaux, Masaniello is a genuine Neapolitan restaurant renowned for its traditional savoir-faire. Here you can enjoy authentic pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven ! Holder of the precious “Verace Pizza” label awarded by the prestigious Associazone Verace Pizza Napoletana masaniello’s dough is prepared by hand and left to rest for between 24 and 36 hours before being topped with fresh ingredients. That way, pizzas are even more flavorful and lighter! Our favorites? The Marinara with double San Marzano DOP tomato sauce, oregano, basil and garlic oil, or the Cetarina: double San Marzano DOP tomato sauce, mozzarella di bufala campana DOP, Cetara anchovies, candied tomatoes, taggiasche olives, oregano and EVO olive oil.
📍 10 rue Macoudinat
Capperi
As in Italy, in this restaurant the pizza is created, not cooked. Capperi combines italian know-how to the quality of the products to offer you elaborate and tasty pizzas. Here, pizzas are made with ORGANIC flour, extra-virgin olive oil produced by the manager directly in Sicily, and fresh seasonal vegetables. Created before your eyes with fresh produce and simple ingredients, the pizzas are cooked over a wood fire. At Capperi the menu changes with the seasons! Which we love, because we’re always discovering different pizzas. Located not far from St. Peter’s Square, the restaurant is often a victim of its own success. Don’t forget to book!
📍 3 rue de la Cour des Aides
Papa Lello
Without the slightest hesitation, this is one of our favorite addresses! Papa Lello offers a magnificent selection of traditional and contemporarypizzas baked in a wood-fired oven at 500° . The manager’s know-how comes directly from Naples, from the city’s best “pizzaioli”. At Dad Lello here, pizzas are served in an atmosphere reminiscent of 1970s Naples. We recommend you try the Truffe de Ouf: black truffle cream, fiordilatte mozza, bresaola, arugula, smoked stracciata, roasted hazelnuts, pepper, truffle-infused olive oil.
📍 35 quai des Chartrons
Da Bartolo
Make yourself comfortable at the table, close your eyes… You’ll feel like you’re in Naples. From waiters to ingredients and pizza recipes… Everything here is made in Italy! Located in the Saint-Pierre district, the Osteria Da Bartolo uses only products from producers in southern Italy, offering pizzas that are as good as they are delicious. Baked in a wood-fired oven, the pizze are very tasty. Our favorites? La Mortazza: pistachio pesto, mozzarella fior di latte, mortadella di Bologna PDO and whole burrata. But also Smoked: San Marzano PDO tomato sauce, smoked mozzarella di bufala from Campania, ricotta di bufala, speck, parmigiano reggiano PDO (aged 24 months), basil, extra virgin olive oil.
📍 14-15-16 rue des Faussets
Monzù
The best pizzerias in Bordeaux also include Monzù. Get ready to discover a true Neapolitan ristorante! We love Monzù for its open kitchen, chic retro ambience, cutting-edge decor and, of course, its pizzas! In fact, here pizza is queen. With its meltingly soft dough, pizza made in Monzù is generously good. We love the Calzone Bianco, with mozza fior di latte, smoked scamorza, white ham and basil… La Dragqueen, tomato sauce, mozza fior di latte, mushrooms, egg, white ham, parmesan and basil… Or the Mortazza, mozza fior di latte, 100g burrata, mortadella, pistachio cream, pistachio slivers and basil.
