At Bordeaux Secret, we’re real gourmands: it’s about time we devoted one of our top stories to chocolate ! Praline, milk, caramel… there are a thousand possible chocolate flavours and even more ways to enjoy them. Here is our selection of the five best chocolate shops in Bordeaux, the crème de la crème!
1. Chocolaterie Lalère
Xavier Lalère has had a consuming passion for chocolate for almost ten years, and it shows: in his store near the Palais Gallien, Lalère has created Bordeaux’s first chocolate bar! The concept: enjoy chocolates on the spot, with a choice of hot or cold beverage. Take a chocolate break on rue Fondaudège!
📍 145 Rue Fondaudège, 33000 Bordeaux
2. Darricau House
Maison Darricau is more than just a chocolate shop, it’s a house of excellence for all Bordeaux cocoa lovers. Nestled in the heart of downtown, their boutique is packed with products of meticulous craftsmanship and unrivalled flavor. We particularly like their Grains de Sable (chocolate praline cubes rolled in hazelnut) and Pavés (almond balls macerated in Graves wine): perfect gifts!
📍 7 bis Rue de la Vieille Tour, 33000 Bordeaux
3. Hasnaâ Chocolats Grands Crus
If you’re looking for originality, here it is! Hasnaâ Ferreira, who appeared on MasterChef in 2012, sets herself apart from other chocolatiers by combining surprising ingredients in her recipes: poppy ganache , Burgundy blackcurrant, hibiscus, banana rum… We’ve fallen in love with these chocolates with their unique taste and precise, meticulous production.

4. Cadiot Badie
Thanks to its exceptional expertise, passed down through the generations since 1826, Cadiot Badie can boast of being the oldest chocolate factory in Bordeaux! His creoles, cherries macerated in rum, coated in chocolate and inspired by the Bordeaux guinette, are the stars of this boutique on the Allées de Tourny. Just the thing for liqueur lovers!
📍 26 Allées de Tourny, 33000 Bordeaux
5. Saunion House
What makes Maison Saunion so special? A history that has spanned generations of Bordelais (for good reason, the company has been open since 1893!), a traditional workshop in the heart of the city and, above all, an establishment that has won many awards from chocolate enthusiasts! Our favorite? Their Châtaigne: a chocolate ball identical in shape and appearance to the eponymous chestnut, filled with chestnut cream and Périgord walnuts! We love it!
