Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Château de Vayres is decked out in autumn colors and takes on a mysterious air. During the All Saints’ Day break, step through the gates of the estate and immerse yourself in a truly magical world. Medieval epics, fantastical creatures, knights, and witches await visitors of all ages for a breathtaking Halloween. On the agenda: creative activities for kids, as well as a big, festive weekend full of thrills!
Vayres Castle Gets into the Halloween Spirit During All Saints’ Day
Overlooking the Dordogne, the Château de Vayres is the perfect setting for fantastical tales. With its ancient stones, inner courtyards, and vast grounds, could there be a better setting to celebrate Halloween? For the occasion, the estate is decked out in decorations and offers several family-friendly events.
From October 20 to 23, and then from October 26 to 31, children ages 3 to 12 can take part in a special Halloween afternoon. Available by reservation, this three-hour program begins at 2 p.m. and includes a guided tour of the decorated château, a creative workshop to make a spooky stained-glass window, and a fun exploration of the grounds.
Younger children have access to an age-appropriate activity booklet. For children ages 8 and up, the “Les Enquêtes de Anne Mésia” app offers a unique way to explore the grounds through puzzles and historical anecdotes. Children are encouraged to come in costume to fully enjoy the experience. Reservations are required, and the fee is €14 per participant, whether adult or child.
A Halloween weekend filled with shows and spooky creatures
The big event will take place on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This time, the castle will be transformed into a life-size playground, with activities for the whole family. Witches, gnomes, dragons, executioners, and devils might just cross your path as you wander down a path!
Show enthusiasts can enjoy falconry demonstrations and knightly tournaments. Numerous games and activities will round out the program: witch hunts, werewolf trials, spell-casting lessons, theatrical skits, and face-painting workshops.
The most daring visitors can also explore the castle’s ground floor during a special “haunted castle” tour. And to round out the afternoon, join us at 6:30 p.m. to share the traditional toad slime soup!
