With specialty coffee becoming increasingly widespread, the Paris Coffee Show was held on Monday, September 14, 2026. It was a coffee-filled event during which the winners of thethird edition of the “Best Coffee Shop in France” competition were announced. Two Bordeaux establishments took home the top prize and the Best Food & Beverage Experience award, respectively. Could Bordeaux be France’s new coffee capital?
A competition celebrating the art of coffee

Organized by the Collectif Café in partnership with La Main Noire, the “Best Coffee Shop in France” competition recognizes establishments that turn the coffee shop into a true hub of community life. The criteria? Coffee quality, of course, but also sweet and savory offerings, customer experience, CSR commitment, and communication.
Launched in 2024, the competition saw a record number of entries for this third edition. Ten establishments were initially selected from among the candidates. Five finalists were then chosen by a jury of experts. The finalists were also subject to anonymous visits, a way to assess the experience as it is actually lived by customers.
Two Bordeaux Locations at the Top
Moko Coffee Shop, Best Coffee Shop in France
It was already on our list of the best coffee shops in Bordeaux, and now it’s the big winner of this year’s competition! Founded by Thomas Labroue and his wife Ninon, Moko Coffee Shop has won the award for Best Coffee Shop in France, across all categories.
The spot particularly stands out for its focus on specialty coffee. Whether it’s espresso, slow brews, or lattes, each drink receives special attention. This is complemented by a carefully curated selection of beans and a true mastery of brewing techniques. But Moko is about more than just the cup. In its spacious, ultra-cozy, and dog-friendly space, people also come for breakfast, lunch, or to treat themselves to a gourmet break. The retro decor, inspired by the 1960s and cinema, adds real character to the place.
Goûtu, Best Food & Beverage Experience Award
Another Bordeaux establishment was honored: Goûtu, recognized for its Best Food & Beverage Experience.
Founded in 2018 by brothers Kévin and Dimitri Grodwolh, the establishment combines two areas of expertise. One specializes in fine pastries, while the other focuses on specialty coffee and roasting. This delicious combination comes together in a cozy, dog-friendly coffee shop, where delicate pastries and carefully crafted coffees create a gourmet experience that always puts the product front and center.
Two national awards, two Bordeaux spots: what a great excuse to (re)discover the local coffee shop scene!
