The party is back in full swing on the banks of the Bassin à Flot! IBOAT, Bordeaux’s most iconic venue on the local electronic music scene —which has been closed since January—is set to embark on a second life come fall, under a brand-new name: Ublo. Full speed ahead: we’ll tell you everything about this change of course!
The Downfall of the IBOAT
Hit and sunk! A quick recap for those who might have missed the story: in January 2026,the IBOAT was hit with a two-month administrative closure ordered by the Gironde Prefecture. A major blow that turned, on February 12, into a veritable hammer blow with the announcement of the venue’s permanent closure. The news came as a shock to Bordeaux’s entire cultural and nightlife scene, as this boat moored on the Bassin à Flot had been a fixture for 15 years.
Ublo Raises the Bar
But the party never really ends in Bordeaux! A new project is set to launch at the same mooring spot as the IBOAT, aboard the ferry La Vendée, starting this coming September, under the nameUblo. Farewell to the IBOAT—make way for a new era at this historic venue.
The concept? To carry on the spirit that made the venue famous, with club nights featuring “a discerning lineup, open to the electronic and independent scenes, driven by a strong ambition for Bordeaux and beyond,” according to the press release. Concertgoers, however, will have to wait a little longer: their grand return is scheduled for January 2027, with a lineup faithful to the boat’s DNA, featuring independent music, unique acts, and artists outside the mainstream.
A complete makeover for the La Vendée ferry
There was no question of reopening without going all out: a thorough renovation was carried out throughout the venue to improve comfort. The boat’s hold—the true beating heart of the parties—has also been transformed, with the installation of a new Danley sound system and redesigned ceiling height. This promises an audio-visual experience that will live up to the expectations of the venue’s regulars.
