After the exhibition of three tapestries at the Grand Théâtre, the Salle des Fêtes Bordeaux Grand Parc and the Pierre Veilletet library in the Caudéran district in 2023 and 2024, it’s the turn of the Bordeaux Conservatoire to host one of the monumental creations produced by the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie d’Aubusson. This time, it’s the enchanting world of Le Château ambulant that comes to town with “La Peur de Hauru” (The Fear of Hauru), the fourth work to emerge from an exceptional partnership with Studio Ghibli.
A colossal tapestry born of Aubusson’s unique know-how

From the series Les aventures tissées: l’imaginaire de Hayao Miyazaki, this 3-metre by 5.6-metre tapestry represents one of the film’s most intimate moments – Hauru ‘s fragility , hidden behind his apparent mastery.
To capture the visual richness of this scene, over 2,000 color blends were created, giving life to a work whose nuances and depth pay homage to the painstaking work of Aubusson weavers. A technical feat that makes this piece one of the most impressive in the series.
A poetic and musical inauguration at the heart of the Conservatoire
The installation of this monumental hanging will be celebrated on November 19 at 6pm, during an inauguration open to the public.
Students from the Conservatoire will offer a sensitive and immersive program of chamber music, choir, saxophone and piano concerts, haiku dances, traditional songs… not forgetting a musical tribute to Joe Hisaishi, the legendary composer of Miyazaki films.
A unique evening to discover this rare creation, on view for only a few months at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux – until February 9, 2026.
