Walking the cobbled streets of Saint-Robert is like taking a journey back in time. Built around a former Benedictine monastery, the village charms visitors with its well-preserved architecture. Narrow streets, stately homes, and stone buildings transport visitors to the heart of its history as much as they enchant them.
Although the town has retained its aura, it was nevertheless deeply marked by the Wars of Religion.The 12th-century Romanesque church, partially destroyed during the conflicts, was fortified to withstand attacks. Today, you can still see its towers pierced with arrow slits and its watchtower. It remains a masterpiece of religious art, whose choir and chapels continue to attract many pilgrims.
Nobility and movie sets

Once popular with the nobility, the village is dotted with majestic reminders of its glorious past. Visitors will be charmed by the carved stones of the Maison Seguin, the Renaissance style of the Pavillon de Noailles, and the silhouette of the Château d’Aragon. These are all must-see sites for lovers of beautiful stonework.
Perched on a hill 320 meters above sea level, Saint-Robert also offers breathtaking views of the valley. An exceptional panorama of the Corrèze countryside, imbued with calm and serenity. The surrounding nature and its ancient charms make it an ideal film set. The villagers still remember the filming of the TV series Des grives aux loups, based on the novels by Claude Michelet. In 2020, it lent its enchanting setting to Anne Fontaine’s film Présidents, starring Jean Dujardin.
A miraculous fountain

Beyond its ancient stones, Saint-Robert also cultivates its mysteries. Hidden from view, a fountain has been fueling stories and beliefs for centuries. According to a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, its water is said to have beneficial properties, especially for young children. Following a specific ritual, it once brought hope of healing to families.
The spring was also reputed to help people live wisely through the ages. Discreetly nestled below the village, the fountain still attracts curious visitors and pilgrims today.
