Because the month of December has plenty to surprise you in and around Bordeaux! Every winter, the Bois du Bouscat lights up and transforms itself into a poetic universe where creativity takes center stage. In 2025, the event changes era: l’Hiver Enchanté du Carrousel becomes “Nouvelles Racines”. The idea? To turn the wood into a veritable living museum, where works of art are born and transformed over the course of the seasons, hand in hand with local residents. The ideal way to immerse yourself in the magic of winter and art.
An open-air museum that evolves over time
Launched in 2024, the Nouvelles Racines project revolves around a new artistic cycle imagined with the LiBeR collective. It explores what connects us: our memories, our gestures, our languages, or even what nature silently anchors beneath our feet. Some of last year’s creations have already taken up residence in the woods. Three new works join them this year, co-imagined with the public before being unveiled on Friday, December 19, 2025. They will evolve throughout the winter until their final inauguration in spring 2026.
Nouvelles Racines is more than just an art trail: it’s a sensory experience, where lights, textures, sounds and participatory creations interact. We come here to stroll, to dream, to share a moment out of time… And perhaps even to add our own “root” to this living museum.
A luminous journey through winter

To kick off this year’s event, join us on Friday, December 19, from 7pm to 11pm. On the program: encounters with artists and shows, accompanied by a refreshment bar and a food court to be shared at the foot of the illuminated trees. An evening open to all, setting the tone for a winter focused on collective creation.
Then, from December 20 to February 22, the public is invited to stroll freely along the wood’s paths to discover the new works. Every day, from 5.30pm to 8pm, lights and sounds transform the wood into a mysterious and soothing place.
Visitors will discover 3 flagship creations:
- Le Tronc Commun : a monumental trunk onto which are grafted the branches created by local residents during participatory workshops. A collective work in constant evolution.
- Epiphytes: imaginary plants attached to the stainless steel roots already present in the wood. Inspired by plants that grow without ever harming their support, they form a delicate, poetic network.
- Les Empreintes , a project that combines photography and painting to pay homage to the family, cultural and personal roots of the participants. A sensitive work that invites us all to reflect on our own heritage.
Le Café Passant: a weekly rendez-vous

Every Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm, the Café Passant welcomes visitors in front of the entrance to the wood on boulevard Lyautey. We talk about l’Hiver Enchanté, life in the neighborhood and current workshops, over a cup of tea or coffee. A simple, warm moment open to all.
