Animator, director, writer, screenwriter, producer, Japanese mangaka and co-founder of Studio Ghibli (yes, all of the above), Hayao Miyazaki is one of the most accomplished filmmakers in the history of animation! A talented storyteller, he transports us into his poetic and creative universe. His animations often deal with the relationship between humanity, nature and technology, traditions and craftsmanship, or the difficulty of maintaining peace in a violent world.
Miyazaki is now known the world over for his creative and surprising animated films based on Japanese culture. Chihiro’s Journey, released in 2001, is considered one of the greatest films of the 2000s, and even became the highest-grossing film in Japanese history!
To help you choose your screening at Megarama, we’ll tell you what each of the films on offer is about. In any case, no matter which one you choose, the animated film you see will make you want to see the others!
