What if the thrills of Halloween could also be found between the pages of a book? From October 20 to 31, a strange bookstore will open in the heart of Bordeaux. With a name that leaves no room for doubt, La Petite Librairie de l’Horreur awaits the most daring readers. Fans of suspense, fantasy, and horror—this pop-up is for you.
A pop-up bookstore dedicated to horror

For Halloween, Mollat is teaming up with Pocket and 10/18 to unveil a bookstore that’s as fleeting as it is terrifying. For nearly two weeks, Place Gambetta will be transformed into a haven for readers seeking thrills. Cult classics, unsettling new releases, and lesser-known gems will make up a selection entirely devoted to horror literature.
The pop-up will notably showcase Pocket’s New Horror collection. Titles from the Pocket and 10/18 catalogs will also be featured. You’re sure to find your next read for a dark and mysterious fall evening…
And for those who feel overwhelmed by the many shelves, the Pocket team will be on hand on October 23, 24, and 28 to share their recommendations and favorite picks with visitors.
Program Highlights
La Petite Librairie de l’Horreur won’t just be stocking its shelves. Several events will punctuate the occasion.
The festivities will kick off on October 19 at the Utopia cinema with a screening of the film *The Changeling*. The opening night will feature Bernard Minier and Laurent Queyssi for * *—a discussion on cinema and fantasy literature.
The next day, head to Place Gambetta for the official opening of the pop-up bookstore. And the program has a few more surprises in store for visitors.
Finally, it’s hard to imagine a better way to wrap things up than an event on Halloween itself. The king of crime fiction, Franck Thilliez, will be there on October 31 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for a book-signing. Please note: registration is required.
Only one question remains: will you dare to step inside La Petite Librairie de l’Horreur?
