What is We call it Ballet?
We call it Ballet ‘s luminous show celebrates the age-old art of ballet, and invites you to rediscover it in a modern version that retains the essential elements that have made it such a success. Set to Tchaikovsky‘s reworked score, the dancers offer a choreography that respects Tchaikovsky’s work , in a version shortened from the usual 160 minutes, while sporting luminous costumes covered in thousands of LEDs. Each play of color amplifies the highly technical movements of this dance.
Ballet, its history and the show
Ballet has its origins in the Italian Renaissance. It soon spread abroad, gaining prominence mainly in Russia and France. In France, it was Catherine de Medici of Italy who, on marrying King Henri II, introduced our country to this subtle art form. If for a long time it was synonymous with inaccessibility, We call it Ballet invites you to discover it in a show that is accessible to all.
By choosing to tell you the story of Sleeping Beauty, we’ve not only chosen an iconic ballet piece, but also one whose story is familiar to everyone, making it easier to follow. But to make sure you don’t miss a thing, a narrator will intervene at certain points in the show to put the dance steps in context and immerse you even further in the story.
Thanks to We call it Ballet, you can discover this precious art form without leaving Bordeaux, at the famous Rocher de Palmer. Treat yourself to a magical night in the company of graceful dancers.
