While it’s not quite time for New Year’s resolutions yet (though, who says you have to wait until January?), Bordeaux’s public transit system is undergoing several changes for the start of the 2026 school year. With new night buses, transit passes on your smartphone, and route changes, TBM is reorganizing! Here’s what you need to know about the main changes.
8 TBNight lines for nights out in Bordeaux
This is one of the major new developments this fall: the TBM network is rolling out a new structure for its night transit service. The former TBNight line is now organized into eight lines numbered N1 through N8. They will run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and the nights before holidays starting September 3.
- The N1 follows the route of the former TBNight, between the Submarine Base and the Gradignan campus. It runs from 1:10 a.m. to 5:05 a.m. every 30 minutes without interruption.
- The N2 through N8 lines, meanwhile, operate in a more unique way, with a fixed route and seven zones featuring stops served on demand.
The fixed routes are organized as follows:
- N2: from Victoire to Barrière du Médoc via Gare Saint-Jean, Stalingrad, Jardin Botanique, Darwin, la Cité du Vin, and the boulevards. Departures from Victoire at 1:47 a.m. and 4:05 a.m.
- N3: from Base Sous-Marine to Barrière Judaïque via the Cité du Vin, Quinconces (river), Cours Victor Hugo, and Lycée Camille Jullian. Departures from Base Sous-Marine at 1:43 a.m. and 3:58 a.m.
- N4: from Base Sous-Marine to Campeyraut via La Cité du Vin, Darwin, Jardin Botanique, Stalingrad, Gare Saint-Jean, Victoire, and Barrière Saint-Genès. Departures from Base Sous-Marine at 1:53 a.m. and 4:03 a.m.
- N5: from Base Sous-Marine to Cité Numérique via La Cité du Vin, Place Paul Doumer, Gambetta, Palais de Justice, Victoire, and Gare Saint-Jean. Departures from Base Sous-Marine at 1:58 a.m. and 4:01 a.m.
- N6: from Base Sous-Marine to Galin via La Cité du Vin, Quinconces, Palais de Justice, Victoire, Gare Saint-Jean, and La Benauge. Departures from Base Sous-Marine at 2:03 a.m. and 4:10 a.m.
- N7: from Gare Saint-Jean to Place des Deux Villes (Buttinière) via Victoire, Palais de Justice, Place Paul Doumer, La Cité du Vin, and Cenon Gare. Departures from Gare Saint-Jean at 2:01 a.m. and 4:15 a.m.
- N8: from Gare Saint-Jean to Les Aubiers via Victoire, Palais de Justice, Quinconces, La Cité du Vin, and Base Sous-Marine. Departures from Gare Saint-Jean at 1:54 a.m. and 4:10 a.m.
On-demand nighttime stops
From N2 to N8, each line also serves seven sectors with on-demand stops. This “flex” system makes it possible to expand nighttime service.
These specific zones are distributed as follows:
- N2: Bordeaux Caudéran, Le Bouscat, Le Haillan, St-Aubin-de-Médoc, St-Médard-en-Jalles
- N3: Bordeaux Mondésir, Bordeaux Saint-Augustin, Martignas-sur-Jalle, Mérignac
- N4: Gradignan, Pessac, Talence Médoquine
- N5: Bègles, Talence, Villenave d’Ornon
- N6: Artigues-près-Bordeaux, Bouliac, Cenon, Floirac
- N7: Ambarès-et-Lagrave, Ambès, Bassens, Carbon-Blanc, Lormont, St-Louis-de-Montferrand, St-Vincent-de-Paul
- N8: Blanquefort, Bruges, Eysines, Parempuyre, Le Taillan-Médoc
Good news for night owls: these lines can be used with regular TBM tickets, at no extra charge. Just remember to set your stop via the app before boarding.
The daytime network is also changing
The start of the school year also brings several adjustments to daytime bus routes. Some school bus routes have been modified, while new routes are being introduced:
- The routes for lines S48 and S49 have been modified. Find all the details on the TBM website.
- The S50 line from Collège Niki de Saint Phalle to Coin is joining the network.
- The S20 is being discontinued following the creation of the S19 line, which runs from Collège du Taillan to Duragnes.
- Line 2 now has a partial terminus at Cantinolle.
- Line 39Est, meanwhile, has been extended to the Taillan middle school.
These changes take effect on August 31, 2026. They may seem minor, but they could alter the daily routines of many riders. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, we recommend checking your route directly on the TBM app.
Another convenient new feature: the TBM pass can now be stored digitally on your smartphone. This means your phone becomes a new way to keep your transit pass right at your fingertips. The physical card is still available for those who prefer this option (or often run out of battery).
