Our beautiful city has nothing to envy Paris with its opera, and is already recognized as a major city for ballet in France. And with Ballet of Lights in Bordeaux, it’s the story of Peter Pan and his difficulty in growing up that will make the city shine. In a dance show that combines authenticity and modernity, the dancers and their luminous costumes will take you to Neverland for one evening.
And to host such a majestic event, a château in the heart of the city – the sublime Château Descas– will play host to the show. Just a stone’s throw from the station, and following extensive renovation work, the château theater has reopened its doors, and its auditorium will be the perfect stage for the dancers.
Ballet of Lights brings Peter Pan to Bordeaux
Ballet of Lights has decided to bring you its luminous version of the famous Peter Pan tale. On the stage of Château Descas, the 6 dancers will use their talent to tell you every step of the adventure of Peter, Wendy and her brothers. But to accentuate the enchantment of Neverland, the costumes are decked out in colorful lights, enhancing the dancers’ pirouettes and intricate steps.
Peter Pan told in light, music and dance
The story of Peter Pan is not a new one, and this well-known character first appeared in 1902 in the book by J. M. Barrie. In this dance show, Ballet of Lights revisits the original Peter Pan in its own way. With its Neverland, Tinker Bell and children who never grow up, this timeless story could not have been better suited to become a luminous ballet.
And as this artistic expression is far more complex and richer than just a dance, the melodies of Mendelssohn ‘s A Midsummer Night’s Dream , Brahms ‘ Hungarian Dance no. 5 and Smetana ‘s The Moldau will set the pace for the dancers and immerse you in this fascinating universe.
Inside Château Descas, an adventure worthy of Wendy and her brothers’ time with Peter Pan awaits you. For one thrilling hour, step back into childhood and stop growing up with the Ballet of Lights show in Bordeaux. Doors open 30 minutes before the show, so you can even arrive early and take your time getting into the mood.
